Shenky Shugah: The Journey of a Zambian Music Star and Producer
Shenky Shugah, whose real name is Martin Kapesha, was born on 9 September 1988 and has grown into one of Zambia’s most versatile entertainers. Known as a recording artist, songwriter, music producer, and performer, Shenky Shugah has played a major role in shaping modern Zambian music through both his own songs and his production work for other artists.
His rise to fame began with the hit single Nalikutemwa, a song that introduced his unique sound to audiences across the country and established him as one of the Copperbelt’s emerging stars.
Early Musical Beginnings
Shenky Shugah’s passion for music started at a very young age. At just 14 years old, he began singing in a school choir, where he developed his vocal abilities and confidence as a performer.
Although he had been involved in music for years, his professional recording journey officially began in 2007. A year later, in 2008, he expanded his talents into music production, showing an early determination to become more than just a singer.
Breakthrough with “Nalikutemwa”
In 2009, Shenky Shugah traveled to Kitwe, popularly known as “Kopala,” where he recorded his breakthrough song Nalikutemwa. The track quickly gained popularity across the Copperbelt Province and helped elevate his name within the Zambian music industry.

Building Tinnah Touch Production
In 2013, Shenky Shugah took a major step in his career by forming his own music label and production brand, Tinnah Touch Production, under Fame Records alongside Paul Kanyanga, also known as Papa Love P.
Through the label, he became one of the country’s respected producers, working with many of Zambia’s top artists including JK, Afunika, Macky 2, Chef 187, P Jay, Pilato, Petersen Zagaze, and Dandy Krazy among others.

Over the years, Shenky Shugah has delivered numerous hit songs that have become fan favorites in Zambia and beyond. Some of his most recognized works include Kontamako, Fine Gelo, My Local, Ukalenjibukisha, Apotepo, Tebanobe, DJ You’re Responsible, Katemba Chupo, Ichiselema, You’re Beautiful, and My Love.
